Journal of Frederick Arthur Buckley on HMS SHROPSHIRE, 1931-1933.

Journal kept by Frederick Arthur Buckley while in command of the cruiser HMS SHROPSHIRE (1928) in the Mediterranean, 29 August 1931 to 25 August 1933. The events include demonstrations against British rule in Cyprus and the detention of Nicodemos Mylonas, bishop of Kitium, in October 1931; a refit at Chatham between January and April 1932; and the passage of the Prince of Wales and Prince George from Corfu to Cannes in August 1932. Telegrams, postcards, photographs, invitation cards, programmes, newspaper cuttings and other items of ephemera are included.
