War diary of Frederick Arthur Buckley (Volume 6), November 1916-May 1918.

Diary kept by Frederick Arthur Buckley, 18 November 1916 to 1 May 1918. During this period Buckley continued to serve on the battleship HMS VENERABLE (1899) with the Italian fleet at Taranto. After the VENERABLE paid off at Portsmouth he returned to the shore establishment HMS Excellent at Whale Island. He then served on the battleships HMS SUPERB (1907) and HMS EMPEROR OF INDIA (1913) based at Scapa Flow. The events include the loss of the battleship HMS VANGUARD (1909) following an internal explosion on 9 July 1917 and the Second Battle of Heligoland Bight on 17 November 1917.
