Cutty Sark is a beloved icon of Greenwich and the last surviving tea clipper from the golden age of sail.

Our daily tours and gallery talks are the perfect way to discover the must-see highlights of the historic ship, all led by our friendly and knowledgeable guides.

Highlights Tour

Explore Cutty Sark with one of our guides and discover what made it the fastest sailing ship in the world. Learn about the famous clipper races that brought tea to Britain, as well as how and why Cutty Sark was preserved for the nation.

Timings: Tours run daily at 12pm and 2pm.

Duration: 50-60 minutes. 

Meeting point: Sammy Ofer Gallery, in the Dry Berth underneath the ship. 

Price: £5.00 for adults; £3.50 for students; £2.50 for children; free for Members. This is an additional cost on top of the general admission fee.

Suitability: Suitable for adults and children.

Audio headsets: You will be provided with headphones and an audio headset, which allow you to clearly hear the guide and adjust the volume if required. The headphones and headset will be collected at the end of the tour. 

Tour size: Each tour has a maximum capacity of 25 people.

Accessibility: Cutty Sark is wheelchair accessible, with lifts providing step-free access to all levels of the ship. Some areas of the Main Deck are not wheelchair accessible, but virtual access is provided to these spaces.

Gallery Favourites

Whether it's shipwrecks and battling scurvy, or ocean currents, conservation and the suffragist saviour of Cutty Sark, our programme of talks will have something for you.

Timings: Daily at 11am, 1pm and 3pm subject to availability – speak to staff at the front desk if you are interested in joining a talk.

Duration: 25-30 minutes. 

Location: Talks take place in various locations around the ship. Listen to tannoy announcements, check posters around the site or ask a member of our team for more information. 

Price: Free. No booking is required.

Suitability: Suitable for adults and children. 

Accessibility: All floors of the ship are accessible via lift.

Learn the ropes and make your own!

Did you know that Cutty Sark has around 11 miles of rope in its rigging? Ever wondered how rope is made?

Come along to learn a traditional rope-making method with a member of our team and leave with your own piece of handmade rope.

  • Timings: 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm.
  • Duration: Drop-in, 5 minutes.
  • Location: 'Tween Deck or Sammy Ofer Gallery, please enquire with staff on the day. 
  • Price: Free, included with admission. 
  • Suitability: Suitable for adults and children. 
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.
