First class certificate of proficiency in radiotelegraphy issued to James Young

Certificate of proficiency issued by the Postmaster General to James Young, following examinations in radiotelegraphy and practical tests on Marconi apparatus, authorising him to be a first class wireless operator on British ships, dated 4 July 1913. On the reverse is a record of his age, place of birth, notes on his appearance, a small portrait photograph, and the stamp mark of the Inspector of Wireless Telegraphy, General Post Office, dated 29 October 1915.
