Postcard with a photographic portrait of three officers (two holding smoking pipes) at the entrance to the Wahmbeck camp building, with signatures Geo Small [George Small], H. Hatcher [William Henry Hatcher] and M.J. Mackenzie [Murdoch James Mackenzie].

All three individuals were interned after their merchant vessels had been captured and sunk by the German raider MOEWE. George Small, born at Cullercoats, Northumberland, in 1880, was second engineer on the FRENCH PRINCE ex BULGARIAN PRINCE ex MINEOLA (1900), Prince Line Ltd., sunk off Brazil on 15 February 1917. William Henry Hatcher, born in London in 1895, was second mate on the EDDIE (1895), Thomas Turnbull & Son Shipping Co. Ltd., sunk off Brazil on 16 February 1917. Murdoch James Mackenzie, born at Hull in 1891, was second engineer on the KATHERINE (1904), Christian Salvesen & Co., sunk in the Atlantic on 24 February 1917.
