Letters, documents and ephemera covering Captain Gordon Reinhold Bald's naval career

Letters from Captain Gordon Reinhold Bald, mainly to his parents and sisters during his early naval career. The folder also contains Bald's 1885 baptism certificate, examination results from Eastman's academy and a letter from the admiralty praising his survey of the Peruvian coast while on HMS ALGERINE. Includes a photograph of the officers of HMS RESOLUTION, 1916, including Bald and a later letter from Admiral Bruce Austin Fraser thanking him for his congratulations and reminiscing on their time in RESOLUTION. There is also a November 1952 letter of condolence to Bald on the death of his son Robin and letters of condolence to his wife and daughter on his death in 1956. Ephemera within this folder includes a programme for the ceremonial procession for funeral of King Edward VII, an invitation to Bald's daughter's wedding, and an edition of The Times for 26 January 1793 reporting on execution of Louis XVI.
