Journal kept as a lieutenant training in torpedoes on HMS ANTRIM, 1913-1914
Journal kept by Captain Gordon Reinhold Bald while in HMS ANTRIM. The journal covers visits to Denmark, time spent at Sheerness and Cromarty, and the outbreak of war in 1914. He also records ANTRIM capturing a German merchant ship on 6 August 1914 and an unsuccessful attack by German submarine U-16 in the North Sea on 9 October 1914. The volume also contains a 4 June 1914 letter on Nicolas Marset, Algeciras, Spain headed paper to Commander E.L. Kennedy.
