John C. Evans CPO, Electrical Artificer (1909 - 1941). Diary and Papers from 1939 to 1941. Includes, a letter to his parents informing them of his presumed death aboard HMS NEPTUNE and newspaper cuttings of his obituary and various reports of the warship's demise. Also contains an envelope containing a photograph of him abaord ship and a photo of HMS NEPTUNE at sea.
Includes 2 photos taken aboard SS EGTON in Montevideo, March 1941 of Nazi battleship GRAFF SPEE, after it was scuttled, alongside a newspaper page describing those events from the Hampshire Telegraph and Post, Friday, December 22nd, 1939.
