Arabesque

The Essex one-design sailing dinghy called Arabesque of wood construction, clinker built with centre plate. The Bermuda rigged mast has running backstays, upper and lower shrouds with a diamond from the mast top to the lower shrouds. Forward, the mast has a top mast forestay, lower forestay and jib roller spar. Jib is furled round a spar with a Wickham-Martin type device and can be boomed out on a jib-pole fixed to the mast and to the furling drum and to the winch on the centre plate casing. The original wood spars have been replaced with gold anodised alloy.
