Fake Insect Pinning Craft: Creepy Crawly Curiosities
Dry Berth | 11am-1pm, 2pm-4pm
Create a bug worthy of a museum display. Make use of recycled materials and lots of imagination to build and decorate your own framed insect.
Take inspiration from the creepy crawlies often found aboard ships and in museum collections, from galleys to galleries!

Bugs in the Archives

Museum collections need protecting, especially from hungry insects.
Become both artist and conservator in this colourful family workshop. Create a beautiful, textile-inspired background using watercolours, then add carefully crafted beetles, moths and bugs to your design to discover what happens when pests move in.
Learn about the hidden work of conservation while creating your own insect-infested masterpiece to take home.

Squishy Paper Crawlies

Who’s hiding in the biscuit barrel? Uncover the curious world of these little stowaways, from biscuit-loving weevils to new species of insect passengers that travelled the ocean on ships such as Cutty Sark.
Find out about life at sea and how museums protect their collections today, while creating your own soft and squishy paper creepy-crawly.
