Drawing inscribed across the upper edge of the sheet 'Trincomalee HMS Trincomalee going into harbour April 3d 1819 Jury rig/from India.'

HMS 'Trincomalee', 46-guns, was launched at Bombay Dockyard on 12 October 1817, and arrived at Portsmouth on 3 April 1819, the date inscribed on Schetky’s drawing. She was renamed 'Foudroyant' in 1903 and is the oldest British warship afloat at Hartlepool.
