Join us for a fun-fuelled family day at the National Maritime Museum.

Get active in a Haka workshop led by the Maori community, learn about the unusual diets of astronauts on their way to the Moon or take a moment of peace with family yoga.

All activities are free.

Out of this world

Under the Figurehead, 11am - 1pm | 2pm - 4pm

Come and meet a Science Explainer from the Royal Observatory and explore the diet of an astronaut in space. It's not all freeze-dried fruit!

Grub's Up!

Learning Space, 11.30am | 12.15pm | 1.30pm | 2.15pm | 3.15pm

Try your hand at preparing quick and easy salads with GCDA. Learn a new recipe with qualified cooks before taking it away to enjoy. New skills, great food and fun for the whole family!

Fast Food!

Propeller Space, 11.30am - 1.30pm | 2pm - 4pm

$28 for one cabbage?! Play our fast-paced game to find out why fresh food is so expensive in the Arctic. Can you get the vegetables to the supermarket before time runs out?

Vitamin Sea

Compass Lounge (Sammy Ofer Wing), 11.30am - 1.30pm | 2pm - 4pm

What do you need for a healthy diet at sea? Come and learn about diets at sea and plant your own surprise to take home.

TOA Haka Workshops

2pm - 3pm

The Haka has a long history of performance in the Pacific. It is performed as a group and is a display of unity, pride and strength. Come and watch a Haka performance by TOA Haka Workshops before learning a few moves yourself.

Suitable for all ages and abilities.

Family Yoga

Group Space, 11.30am, 12 noon, 1.30pm, 2pm, 3pm

Join local yoga teacher Iris to learn some basic Yoga moves to help improve your physical and mental wellbeing as a family. Come as you are! No need for fancy clothes or equipment - just take of your shoes and socks and you’re good to go!

Iris will also be running a session at 11:00am specifically for those with special educational needs and disabilities. Please email to reserve a space. There will also be a session at 2.30pm for adults over 60 years, no reservation needed.

Build a body, NOMAD

Explore your relationship with food and how it makes you feel with NOMAD. Help create a map of the body or decorate a wellbeing message box to take away.
