Step into a world of courage, culture, and creativity with artist and cultural educator Theeba as we uncover the powerful, untold stories of Indian warrior women.
Our morning begins in the Traders Gallery, where we’ll journey into the heart of the 18th-century Sivaganga Kingdom – a once-thriving realm in Southern India. Through storytelling, we’ll meet the women who stood against the East India Company to defend their land and legacy.
Then, take inspiration into your own hands in a crafting session where families can decorate traditional-style Indian shields using collage techniques and a vibrant mix of materials inspired by the lives of these valiant warriors.
All materials and light refreshments will be provided. Come ready to create and to celebrate the stories that still echo through time
Schedule:
- Meet in the Traders Gallery of the National Maritime Museum.
- 11-11.45am: Talk and Q&A in Traders Gallery at the National Maritime Museum
- 12-2.30pm: Creative workshop in ReThink Space
