Essential information
The Royal Observatory is currently closed to visitors along with all other Royal Museums Greenwich sites.
However, we are working hard to reopen as soon as current restrictions are lifted. We've also introduced a number of measures to help keep visitors and staff safe.
These include:
- Reduced capacity and one way routes
- Increased cleaning regime
- Sanitiser stations
- Card payments only
- Screens at all our cash desks
- Online bookings only
- Some interactives, touch screens and audioguides will be unavailable
You must book your time slot for the Royal Observatory in advance, even if you're a Member.
Pre-booked tickets ensure that visits are spread out throughout the day, and that sites don’t exceed their capacity. There is no limit to the time you can spend on our sites.
Make the most of your visit to Greenwich by purchasing a Royal Museums Greenwich Day Pass for entry to all our sites.
The Astronomy Café & Terrace is currently closed
Located in the Astronomy Centre at the Royal Observatory, the Astronomy Café & Terrace is a relaxed spot in which to enjoy a light lunch (a warming soup, say, or a seasonal salad) before strolling through Greenwich Park. The café’s outdoor terrace is a coveted spot on sunny days.
