Catching a seal in the ice-pack

Two crew from the research/exploration ship Discovery (1901) on the pack ice having caught a seal. The pack-ice can be seen in varying thicknesses of floe-ice and thin surface ice in the background.

The Discovery reached the pack-ice on 3 January and passed through it on 8 January. They continued to encounter the pack-ice as they followed the coast and ice shelf until the ship was berthed for winter at McMurdo Sound on 8 February 1902.
