A view of Beaufort Island

A view of the snow covered slopes of Beaufort Island, just north of Ross Island, McMurdo Sound. The Discovery (1901) passed Ross Island on her way eastward towards Cape Colbeck, and then again when the ship was berthed for winter quarters behind the island.
