A sledge-party in soft snow.

A view of six men and at last two dogs harnessed and pulling a sledge through soft snow. The second sledge behind may be attached, as the expedition used this convoy method on occasions to pull the sledges along. The softness of the snow is evident as the man bent over by the sledge has the snow level half-way up his shins.
