Driving clock

Driving clock. Cook 6-inch refractor telescope. This is the Cook No. 2 telescope. One of four new 6 inch equatorial telescopes (to add to the four second hand 6 inch equatorials) purchased for the transit of Venus expedition on 1874. This telescope continued to be used when the Royal Observatory astronomers moved to Herstmonceux and was mounted there in Dome C.
