Heros; Warship; 74 guns

Scale: Unknown. A model of Heros, a French warship made in plaster with wood, metal, paper, and cotton fittings which has been realistically painted. The model depicts the vessel at 1.40pm on 21st October 1805 at the height of the Battle of Trafalgar and the ship is shown with damage sustained in the battle. The ship is three masted, ship rigged and with set sails, showing shot damage. The hull is painted black with a broad white stripe along the two gun decks. The decks are painted white with black deck fittings. The foremast and bowsprit are badly damaged and there is damage to the remaining two masts. The remains of a French tricolour is flying from the peak of the gaff. On paper label "56".
