This is the first talk in the Pioneers: A Renaissance in South Asian Creativity series.
Event speakers
Namalee Bolle
Namalee Bolle worked as a stylist and fashion editor for cult magazine Sleazenation. She went on to create her own magazine Supersuper! (2005-2012) as an anti-fashion rebellion against elitism and racism within the industry.
She draws on her creative experience when exploring identity with her clients as a therapist.
Sharan Dhaliwal
Sharan Dhaliwal is the founder of South Asian magazine Burnt Roti, Middlesex Pride – a yearly Pride event – and speed dating night Oh Queer Cupid.
With Burnt Roti she created a platform where people can discuss their identity, mental health, and sexuality in a safe space. Her debut book Burning My Roti talks about how her Indian identity and queerness comes up against capitalism and white supremacy.
