Sir Samuel Hood K B K S F. European Magazine

A oval bust-length portrait of Samuel Hood (1762–1814) in captain’s (over three years) full dress uniform, 1795–1812, with the Nile medal, the ribbon and star of the Order of the Bath and the neck decoration of the Sicilian Order of St Ferdinand and of Merit. Lettered beneath the image with the title, ‘Sir Samuel Hood K.B. K.S.F.’ This print was engraved by William Holl, William Ridley and Thomas Blood in 1807 and published by James Asperne as an illustration in ‘The European Magazine, or London Review’, volume 52, August 1807, opposite page 83, alongside a ‘Biographical Sketch of Sir Samuel Hood, K.B., K.S.F. and M.P.’ (pp. 83–7).
