A view of the settlement of Proven situated on the western side of the easternmost island that made up the harbour. Proven was reached by 'Alert' (1856) and 'Discovery' (1873) at midnight on 19 July 1875 after having parted from 'Valorous' (1851) on 17 July, who returned to England. Both ships departed Proven in the evening of 21 July 1875.
