Port broadside view of 'Discovery' (1873) at Port Payer, Ellesmere Island, with Brevoort Island in the background. The 'Alert' (1856) and 'Discovery' (1873) were detained here between 30 July and 4 August 1875 because of the rapid southerly flow of ice and a northerly wind preventing the two ships passing Cape Sabine.
