A port broadside view of 'Alert' (1856) at Franklin Pierce Bay with Cape Harrison in the background.

A port broadside view of 'Alert' (1856) at Franklin Pierce Bay with Cape Harrison in the background, taken from 'Discovery' (1873). The two ships were here between 8 and 9 August 1875. The official catalogue states that Victoria Head can be seen in the on the left of Cape Harrison. However, this is unlilely as Victoria Head could not be seen from this angle. However, it will be the north coast of Bache Island, of which Victoria Head is the furthest eastern point.
