A view looking south-southwest towards Cape Baird across the entrance to Lady Franklin Sound (Bay). Taken from behind the cairn on Discovery Beach below Mount Cartmel and Cairn Hill, with the breakwater extending from Bellot Island in the middle distance. The cairn in the foreground was made of preserved-meat tins. Note the heavy ice in this area of the harbour.
