Looking northeast with 'Alert' (1856) [left] and 'Discovery' (1873) [right] at anchor in Alexandra Bay [Princess Alexandra Harbour]. Unnamed islands in the middle distance, and Cape Camperdown and Cape Albert in the background. The two ships passed Cape Sabine in the morning of 4 August, arriving at the Bay in the evening. When the ice opened a channel to the northwest the ships departed on 5 August 1875.
