Her Majesty's Visit to Spithead...1845 to witness the Sailing of the Experimental Squadron. The Royal Yachts Victoria & Albert and Fairy, Calshot Castle and the Kestral in the distance

Mounted in album with PAI3062-PAI3423. Vignette from 'The Experimental Squadron: a series of drawings on stone by L. Haghe, from paintings by J.M. Gilbert illustrative of H.M. visit to Spithead, July 15, 1845'. Note that other copies bear the name of R. Grove as co-publisher who, as well as Gilbert, the artist, was Lymington-based, so this copy may be the London issue. The series was popular and 1846 also saw a second edition.
