Single sheet. Col. ms. Physical description Note: The paper is watermarked: T Edmonds 1805. Scale: [ca. 1:37 500]. Additional Places: Uruguay. Contents Note: The plan shows the city's defences and lines of fire, and the anchorage. In 1806 Grenville became an enthusiastic supporter of plans to attack Spanish interests in South America. This manuscript, drawn by a Frenchman, was probably part of the intelligence gathering before the attack on Montevideo. The British captured the city easily but were driven out by a popular uprising.
